| An early morning fire in
Chippewa Falls, WI, on 31 January, resulted in the deaths of five dogs who were
being kept inside the house which belonged to a breeder of dachshunds. Dogs in
outside kennels were not injured in the fire.
Emergency responders
reported that were forced to wear gas masks to ward off the overwhelming smell
of dog feces and urine.
Though
the situation is being investigated, no charges have been filed and no animals
have been removed from the owner.
