THANKS TO YOUR VOTES, CLARK COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY WON A $25,000 GRANT IN PEPSI REFRESH PROJECT !

"Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, give up. Never give up. Never give up. Never give up." -- Winston Churchill

Mama and pup in filthy cage, waiting to be sold at a dog auction.     Throughout the entire month of August, our friends at Clark County Humane Society competed for a $25,000 major grant through the Pepsi Refresh Everything Project. Thanks to YOUR vote, they came in at #3 and WON the grant!

CCHS asked for the grant to complete a much needed outdoor exercise yard at the shelter. This huge exercise area will be useable year round, regardless of weather. CCHS considers it a giant step in the rehabilitation of former puppy mill dogs, many of whom have never seen sunshine nor felt grass under their paws. Being able to get outside for exercise will also help alleviate kennel stress in all shelter dogs.

Thanks to you, this dream will become a reality!

NOTE: The dogs pictured above were waiting to be sold at auction at Horst Stables auction house in Thorp, WI. They came from one puppy mill and probaby went right back to another. This photo was taken by the executive director of the Clark County Humane Society, who was instrumental in organizing protests of the Thorp Dog Auctions -- even Standing the Line in sub-zero wind chill. After the March 2009 dog auction, the owners of Horst Stables decided that selling dogs was just too much trouble.
